How To Fix A Ripped Lace Wig?

Fixing a lace front may not seem like the simplest of tasks, but it is easier than you may think and can be done from the comfort of your own home.

Common Requirements:

  • Damaged or Ripped Lace Wig
  • Styrofoam wig head
  • Knot Sealer
  • Acetone (Nail polish remover)
  • T-pins

Method 1. Stitch Method:

Requirements: Needle and Clear Thread

  • First, wash the wig and wait for it to air dry, then check where need to add more hair and where need to fix the lace. Now you can start to build up the bald spot areas and repair any ripped lace!
  • Turn the lace wig inside out, and place it on a mannequin head.
  • Prepare a small needle and some strong thread to repair the tear or hole. If the hole is very big, it will need a patch to fill in the wig cap area.
  • You can purchase a lace or similar material that has mesh to ventilate air from the fabric store or wig seller. Cut a piece of lace and sew it in a wig cap to fill in or using tiny stitches sew it in place to fix what was lost and lock stitch.

Begin to fill in the hair on the lace base or where need to add more hair:

  • Using A Ventilation Needle and Holder, use hair bulk of the same color to start adding hair one to no more than three strands of hair at a time.
  • Turn the lace wig inside out, and place it on a mannequin head.

  • Using A Ventilation Needle and Holder, use hair bulk of the same color to start adding hair one to no more than three strands of hair at a time.
  • Hold the needle in your right hand insert the needle through the mesh and come back up through another mesh.
  • Then Grab the hair in your other hand and hold it in a loop. Put it near the lace with the hook and pull the loop through just about a half-inch.
  • When the loop is through the mesh then with the needle still in place slide the needle down, again with the hook go back and grab the ends of the hair by winding the needle around the hair a couple of times, and pull it through the mesh to secure on lace.
  • It's important to pull the hair through in the direction that you want the hair to fall in when finished. Knot each strand after you pull it through!
  • Repeat this procedure till the hair is thicker enough!
  • It will take time if you try to do it the first time but you'll manage to do it faster and faster!

The lace wig will look as good as new! you've revived your wig!

Method 2. Tape Method:

Requirements:

  • Lace front tape
  • Transpore tape (same width as the lace front tape)

Procedure:

  • Step 1: Using a small amount of water, spritz the hair and comb it through.
  • Step 2: Turn your lace wig inside out so the lace is facing you and you can see the part that has to be repaired clearly.
  • Step 3: Using acetone, clean the area that has been torn.
  • Step 4: Pin the tear's edges together with T-pins so that the torn edges are touching.
  • Step 5: Cover the ripped part with lace front tape. To ensure the tape has adhered to the lace, press down firmly with your fingertips, then gently snip away the excess.
  • Step 6: To strengthen the area and protect it from clinging to your scalp, cover it with a piece of 3M Transpore tape of the same size (trim it if necessary).

Fixing your lace front wig is much easy than you might have expected after you've decided on the method you want to employ. The simplest approach to fixing your wig, though, is to not have to fix it at all.

If you've been wearing wigs for a long time, there are a few things to keep in mind. Make sure you're still cleaning and conditioning your wig, as well as having an appropriate storage space for it, to guarantee it lasts more than a few wears.

Tips To Fix Your Lace Wig

Make Your Lace Frontal Wig Last

Now, we know a frontal does not last forever, but who said you couldn't try? You should apply the Glue on certain parts across your hairline instead of spreading it all across.

Another benefit of this method is to stretch out the life of your front. For example, if you plan on keeping your hair straight down, then you can get away with only applying the gel to the top of your frontal and leaving the sides as they are. But again, as long as you plan on not putting your hair up then, you will be fine.

Be Versatile

A good frontal can be on the pricey side, so you want to make sure you're getting good use out of it. A lot of times, the best go-to style is the middle part with the hair straight down, every day of the week.

But remember, a frontal was made to be very versatile. Therefore, it's important to switch your style up, often. Make sure you're throwing some corn rolls in there, high bun, and change your parts.

But if you aren't looking to wear your extensions in different styles, then you need to save your coins and get a closure piece and not a frontal.
