What Are Lace Front Wig Made of?

1. The lace;

2. The wig base;

3. Hair extensions;

Then let us take a deep dive into the contributing parts of what a lace front wig is really made of!

Lace

It is almost obvious that when speaking about a lace front wig, the type of lace used in making the wig is definitely going to come up. And the best front lace wigs are ones made from Swiss lace as it is airy and lightweight, which can allow your natural hair and scalp to breathe even though being secured under the wig for a long time. That is because Swiss lace is thinner than other types of lace materials, which makes it ideal for wig-wearers in humid climates and blends well with any skin tone.

Of course, except for Swiss lace, there are still many different types of lace used in human hair wigs or synthetic wigs. Keep reading to further learn their cons and pros.

1. Swiss Lace

Swiss lace is the most common lace used on the market and is also the most popular and recommended choice by virtue of its superior advantage in camouflag. If you want a very natural hairline, you can choose a wig made of Swiss lace.

Pros:

❋ It is almost invisible to the natural eye and more undetectable.

❋ It is very similar to French lace but it is thinner, softer, and more delicate. ❋It can blend with your natural hair almost effortlessly.

Cons:

 It is more fragile and easier to tear than French lace.

2. French Lace

French lace is not used as often as other lace types and is used predominantly on synthetic wigs. It is occasionally used on low-quality human hair wigs.

Pros:

 It is known for its durability.

 It cost less money than other types of lace. The holes of French lace are smaller than Swiss lace. Therefore, if you plan to install a lace frontal wig using glue or adhesive tapes, it is very durable and can hold up against harsh chemicals.

Cons:

 It is thick and more coarse.

 It is not as undetectable as well as other lace types so you need to pay more effort to hide the lace.

3. HD Lace

If you are looking for an invisible hairline, HD lace is the best choice because it’s thinner, more transparent, and more delicate. Moreover, HD lace frontal wigs and closures will appear much closer to your skin than transparent lace. Plus, it causes no irritation.

Pros:

 It is extremely thin and fine.

 It completely blends with the skin and makes the hairline more undetectable.

 It is nearly undetectable to the naked eye.

 It can be installed by the glueless method.

Cons:

 It is very thin and is easy to be ripped.

 It requires more maintenance.

 It is more expensive than other lace types.

 Due to labor shortages in factories and its popularity, it is usually not available in abundance.

Wig Base

When making lace front wigs human hair, many manufacturers apply the basic wig base. As the most common type of base used in wigs production, the crown of this base contains lace and there is lace containing open spaces between the wefted hair that is sewn vertically onto the cap. The wefts of hair are sewn in using an open weft method to allow better airflow to the scalp.

In addition, this kind of wig base is the most durable and tends to give the hair added volume, especially around the crown. It is the most affordable wig base on the market as well.

Hair Extensions

When it comes to lace front wigs, hair extensions have to be split into three key categories:

1. Hair Material: Human hair or synthetic hair

2. Hair Types – Where is the hair sourced from?

3. Hair Texture – Body wave, straight, curly, etc

Hair Material:

Human Hair

Human hair has collected hair from donors in many countries, such as Brazilian hair, Indian hair, Malaysian hair, and Peruvian hair, etc. It can be cared for and styled the way you would your natural hair. For instance, high-quality human hair wigs can be dyed, permed, bleached, highlighted, straightened, or styled as your own hair according to your need. It is heat-friendly and extremely durable and flexible. It is also quite easy to restore after multiple uses.

Human hair is also split into three further categories:

Virgin Hair

It still has the cuticle attached and all the hair running in the same direction. Virgin hair is 100% human hair that’s never been chemically treated or dyed. It is the best and most expensive human hair on the market.

Remy Human Hair

It is similar to virgin hair as it still has the cuticle attached, but it has gone through chemical processing for color and styling. It is often collected and sorted from various sources with the root and tip traveling in the same direction to ensure the cuticle does not tangle or matte. Remy hair is a smoother, shinier, and healthier appearance than Non-Remy hair.

Non-Remy Hair

Different from Remy hair, Non-Remy is hair that does not have its roots aligned or whose roots and tips do not travel in the same direction. Its cuticles are stripped or run in both directions, thus may often cause tangling.

Synthetic Hair

Just like it sounds exactly, synthetic hair is made consisting of thin fibers that are made predominantly using plastic. These fibers are quite thin and are really fragile and very durable. Lace front wigs synthetic hair are much cheaper than human hair lace frontal wigs due to their lack of durability.

Synthetic hair is also not heat-friendly and does not have the styling flexibility offered by human hair wigs, which means you need to pay extra effort is required to keep the style that the wig is bought with, although synthetic hair is known for its ability to effectively retain styles.

Hair Type:

Malaysian hair, Peruvian hair, Indian hair, and Brazilian hair are the most popular hair types for customers. They have their own advantages and have some differences between.
